Rodney L. Walker
Executive Director

Rod has initiated the most effective foundation for the redirection of children in Southern California. Underlying principles such as "the power of the normal environment", agrarian therapy, Erikson's theories of acquiring social capital, personal industry and the concept of caring, all contribute to the overwhelming success of the children of CFLC.

Rod is the Executive Director of California Family Life Center bringing to CFLC over 25 years experience working with children and youth, twenty years right here at CFLC. Rodney earned his Bachelor of Science from the State University of New York and continued his education with a Master of Arts degree in Psychology at Pepperdine University. He joined CFLC as a supervisor at the Hemet Ranch group home and has served as Executive Director since 1989. Rod's "hands on" style of management results in the empowerment of both the staff and kids whose success is supported by Rod's first-hand knowledge of their struggles and efforts. Rod is insistent that the children and youth we serve have maximum opportunities to experience as normal a childhood as possible. Rod's heart for kids infects every staff member—as he continually inspires the staff to make sure CFLC kids go to camp and get included in community events such as sports, local plays, volunteer events—all of which help to assure they have everything they need to fit in with their peers.
